Like you, I've been hearing this "mantra" I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK over and over again for the last few years and wanted to try and articulate what I've been hearing people say about this country, the government, and the current state we are in.

Please bear in mind that I'm not claiming any political party affiliation nor any group to represent me or my views. I'm not trying to make any profound political statements nor am I trying to convince anyone of my personally held beliefs, which are certainly not cookie cutter or conventional.

Perhaps something I will claim is that I am a "free will, living flesh and blood soul," a man who desires freedom, for myself and every other man and woman.

I invite you to listen to a single we recently produced here in Nashville, TN.

Thank you.

Q, yes education is a huge problem. We have to create a pathology of "higher education". And that can mean a specific trade or higher education.

I think you should also consider education being a significant factor contributing to our high unemployment rates. Our high school drop out rates are too high and our professional college degree rates are too low. According to CNN, Asians make up only 5% of the US population but they make up 20% of ivy league schools. There's nothing preventing us from that level of achievement.

I think if blacks embraced education more, you would see some of our league leading, negative metrics (high unemployment rate, high crime rate, high single parent rate, etc.) come way down.

Matt, thanks for the positive commentary. That's a good idea. Over the next couple months I will review each book and create a separate post for each book. I've been reading a lof of Amos Wilson's work for the last decade. He is a powerful speaker and had the ability to speak truth to black culture (wherever it may be) without coming off as some prejudice black man trying to rouse the Black masses. At the same time his language is extremely terse and straight forward, because he was trying to snap people out of their mental slumber.

Another individual that has offered really out of the box solutions for Black America is Dr. Henrike Clark. His Great and Might Walk documentary, which was produced by Wesley Snipes in 1996, should be in every single school that has a majority black student body. They need this historical nourishment. In the documentary, he closes with the following:

I do not think the African, Caribbean, and Blacks have studied to any degree and depth and seriousness the rise of modern Japan. Went into a war and loss. They sustained two atomic bombs. Had their country occupied. Now the people who defeated them are now begging them for commercial space. What did they do, that we have forgotten how to do?

They did some serious astute planning. Not loud mouthing, not boasting. They did not get on the radio or any platform or call them any names, but they did what they had to do.

If we are carrying out a well designed plan for liberation any literate person can contribute and share leadership. So if the leader dies while you are on page 13 move to page 14 and continue the struggle. Bury the man, continue the plan. I think any person who calls them self a leader, preacher, policy maker of any kind, should ask and answer the question in his own lifetime…How will my people stay on this earth? How will they be educated? How will they be schooled, and how will they be housed and how will they be defended.

The answers to these question will create the concept of enduring nationhood, because it creates the concept of enduring responsibility.

thanks for posting brother malik. great article and as always great insight. i would like to know if you could review these books you have mentioned, to highlight how you feel they address the issue and what we can take away from each. here is to action over reaction and the "real truth" wherever and whatever it may be. - m

Wa Alaikum As Salaam Umm Dawood,

Shukran. I was on another thread talking about this blind nepotism which can blind peoples' view of what is happening outside of their country. It's extremely dangerous.

Ma Salaam
